Using the Motif's digital optical out into the AW16G is one of
the easiest and best ways to get your tracks into the AW16G clean
and clear (with the added bonus of just having to use 1 cable).
STEP 1. Plug on end of your optical
cable into the Motif's optical out (the cable can only go in one
way, so if it doesn't fit, try turning it over), and the other end
into the optical IN on the AW16G.
STEP 2. Go to the UTILITY sectrion
of the AW16G, and Select D. IN HDD
STEP 3. Switch the DIGITAL REC option
to ENABLE. (On, enables digital recording from the DIGITAL IN jack,
and importing of digital audio data from an audio CD or WAV file
inserted in the CD-RW drive).
STEP 4. Select one of the INPUT destinations
(1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, Stereo Bus) to which the signal from the DIGITAL
IN jack will be sent.
NOTES: The
digital output on the Motif is Stereo optical. The digital input
on the AW16G is stereo optical. So you can transfer 2 track mixes
to the AW16G. Most people will want to use the AW16G as a multi-track,
not a 2-track recorder. When you transfer a single track via this
digital hookup, the level is lower than it would be if you transferred
an entire 16 track mix. Remember digital transfers are done so that
the destination level is the same level as the source. It is a clone.
So low level out (single track), low level in. That said, when you
do transfer less than an entire mix, you do get the opportunity
to boost the signal +6dB, +12 or +18dB going out from the Motif.
